Roderick-Crosby Post 28 Committees
Per the Post By-Laws approved November 2015, the following committees are in place.
- Post Executive Committee - meets for organization and such other business as may come before it at the call of the Post Commander within ten (10) days after the installation of the new officers. Thereafter, the Post Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the Post Commander at least every month and as often as said Commander may deem necessary. The Commander shall call a meeting of the Post Executive Committee upon the joint written request of three (3) or more members of said Post Executive Committee and a quorum shall consist of five or more members of the Post Executive Committee.
- Executive Committee - shall hire such employees as may be necessary and shall require adequate bonds from the Finance Officer and other persons having custody of Post funds, shall hear reports of Post Committee Chairmen, authorize all expenditures for the normal operation of the Post, and be responsible for the management of affairs of the Post.
- House Committee - shall have charge of all matters pertaining to the care of the Post quarters and property.
- Membership Committee - shall have charge of all matters pertaining to the membership of the Post, including the procuring of new members, reinstating and eligibility of new members.
- Service and Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation Committee - shall maintain contact with veterans, jobs, and on-th-job training for veterans and with pensions. The visting committee is charged with visiting and comforting of members and their families while in distress or when sick or bereaved, and with visiting ex-servicemen in hospitals.
- Children and Youth Committee - shall be charged with aid and service to children of veterans to fulfill the Legion's pledge "that no child of a war veteran shall be in need of the necessities of life."
- Burial and Ceremonial Committee - shall ensure that all new members are properly initiated. They shall also concern themselves with the burial rituals and the proper wearing of Legion regalia.
- Legal Committee - shall be charged with the legal supervision of all Post matters.
- Americanism Committee - shall be charged with the inspiration of patriotism and good citizenship by making arrangements for proper observance of patriotic occasions; encouragement of patriotic and civic phases of instruction in schools; Americanism of aliens; combating anti-American propaganda by education of the general public in American ideals through public forums, etc and the activities for community and civic betterment.
- Publicity Committee - shall have charge of the promotion of public support of the Legion's programs by the establishment of proper contact with "The American Legion Magazine," with Departmental and National Legion news service, and by local publicity of Post programs and activities.
- Athletic Committee - shall be charged with the promotion of physical development and clean sports by the organization of Post athletic teams, recreation, etc, and support in the general recreation and athletic program of the community.
- Finance Committee - shall be charged with the administration of the financial policy preparations of budget recommendations and supervising of receiving and accounting of all Post funds. They shall arrange for an annual audit of the books.
